Your privacy matters. Denim is designed as a private, offline journal for keeping your denim records, personal notes, photos, voice notes, and poster history on your device.
Effective Date: August 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Denim ("Denim", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the Denim application (the "App").
Denim is a personal, offline denim journal and poster utility. The App allows you to create local denim records, document DIY modifications, write personal journal entries, attach photos and optional voice notes, and create shareable poster images.
By using Denim, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Denim is designed to operate locally. We do not operate an online account system or a cloud database for your journal information. Accordingly, Denim does not require us to collect or maintain the following information on our own servers:
Denim does not provide cloud synchronization between devices. Information created inside Denim is therefore not automatically backed up to a Denim server.
To provide its core features, Denim stores certain information locally on your device. Depending on the features you use, this may include:
| Information | Purpose | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Local profile nickname | Display your personal profile inside the App | On your device |
| Avatar | Display your optional local profile image | On your device |
| Denim records | Maintain your personal denim archive | On your device |
| DIY modification records | Document modifications and maintenance history | On your device |
| Journal entries | Maintain your private denim journal | On your device |
| Photos | Attach images to records, entries and posters | On your device / Photos library when exported |
| Voice notes | Attach optional voice notes to journal entries | On your device |
| Favorites | Quickly access entries you have marked | On your device |
| Poster history | Revisit previously generated posters | On your device |
| Points balance | Track consumable Points available for poster exports | On your device |
You can edit or delete your personal records using the controls provided by the App. Deleting the App may also remove locally stored App data according to the behavior of the operating system.
Denim may request access to your device camera and Photos library when you choose to attach or capture an image.
Camera access may be used to capture:
Photos library access may be used to select images for those same purposes and, when you choose to do so, save generated posters to your Photos library.
You can manage Camera and Photos permissions at any time through the privacy settings provided by your device operating system.
Denim may request microphone permission when you choose to create an optional voice note for a journal entry.
Microphone access is not required to use the core denim archive, journal, or poster features. If you do not grant microphone access, you can continue using other features of the App.
Voice recordings created through Denim are stored locally for use within the corresponding journal entry. Denim does not operate a voice-recording cloud service and does not intentionally upload your voice recordings to Denim servers.
You can manage microphone permission through your device settings.
Denim may request permission to send local notifications for optional journal reminders.
Notifications are an optional convenience feature. You may decline notification permission and continue using Denim.
Notification schedules and related reminder information are controlled by the App on your device. Denim does not require a remote push-notification server to provide its local journal reminder functionality.
You can enable or disable notification permission at any time in your device settings.
Denim may request authorization through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework in connection with attribution or promotional measurement for optional Points Store promotions.
The App will present Apple's system permission prompt when the relevant feature requires authorization. Denim does not bypass or replace Apple's permission mechanism.
If you deny tracking authorization, Denim will respect that choice and will not use information covered by Apple's tracking authorization requirement for purposes that require your consent.
You can review or change your tracking permission through the privacy settings on your device.
Denim includes bundled sample authors and sample journal posts for offline browsing and inspiration.
These sample profiles and posts are fictional. They do not represent real users, real accounts, or a live online community.
Sample content is clearly identified in the App using labels such as:
Sample content is bundled with the App or generated from local predefined data. It is not submitted by members of an online Denim community.
When the App provides options to hide or report sample content, those actions affect the local presentation of sample content on your device. They do not submit a report to a live social network.
Denim is not a social network and does not provide an online community.
The App does not provide:
Accordingly, content created by you is not automatically published to other Denim users.
Denim allows you to generate Share Posters and DIY Posters based on content you have created in the App.
When you choose to save a poster to your Photos library, the resulting image is transferred to the location permitted by the operating system.
When you use the system share sheet, the poster or other selected content is passed to the destination you choose, such as a compatible application or service installed on your device.
Once you intentionally share content with another application or service, that third party's own privacy policy and terms may apply.
Denim offers optional consumable Points packs that can be used for additional Share Poster and DIY Poster exports after the applicable free first export.
Points packs are consumable in-app purchases and are not subscriptions.
Available product identifiers may include:
Purchases are processed using Apple's in-app purchase system. Denim does not receive or store your payment card number, bank account information, Apple Account password, or other payment credentials used by Apple to process a transaction.
Apple may process transaction and purchase information according to Apple's own terms and privacy practices.
Because Points are consumable products, unused Points are not restorable through a standard restore-purchases function. Please review the purchase information presented by Apple before completing a transaction.
Denim is designed to minimize reliance on third-party online services.
The primary third-party platform involved in purchasing Points is Apple's in-app purchase infrastructure. Apple processes the transaction according to Apple's applicable terms and privacy practices.
Denim does not operate its own advertising network, social network, messaging service, cloud storage service, or user-account platform.
When you intentionally use an operating-system feature such as the Photos library or system share sheet, the applicable Apple or third-party service may process information according to its own privacy policy.
Because Denim is designed as a local-first application, one of the primary privacy protections is that personal journal content does not need to be transmitted to a Denim-operated server.
However, no digital storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. The security of your device, operating system, device passcode, backups, and other device-level protections may affect the security of locally stored information.
You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security for your device, including using a device passcode or other available security features.
Denim retains locally created information for as long as it remains stored in the App on your device or until you delete it.
You can manage or delete personal denim records, DIY histories, journal entries, favorites, photos, voice notes, and other local content through the features provided by the App.
Since Denim does not maintain a cloud account containing your journal information, there is generally no Denim server account from which you need to request remote deletion of those records.
Information may also remain in device backups or in the Photos library if you separately created or retained such copies. Those copies are governed by the relevant device or backup settings.
You can control your use of Denim and the device permissions it requests.
Refusing an optional permission may prevent the corresponding feature from working, but it does not necessarily prevent you from using the rest of Denim.
Denim is intended as a general-purpose personal journaling utility and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children through an online account system.
Because Denim does not require account registration and does not provide an online community, it does not knowingly establish online profiles for children.
Parents or guardians should supervise a child's use of device permissions, purchases, Photos access, microphone access, and sharing features as appropriate for their circumstances.
If you believe personal information has been submitted to us in a manner inconsistent with this Privacy Policy, please contact us using the information below.
Denim is distributed through Apple's App Store and may be used in different countries and regions.
Because Denim is designed for local operation, your journal data is primarily stored on your device. Certain platform services, including Apple's purchase infrastructure or other services you intentionally use through the operating system, may process information in accordance with their own terms and privacy practices and may operate across different countries.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Denim's features, applicable requirements, or our privacy practices.
When changes are made, the updated version will be made available within Denim or through the applicable distribution channel. The effective date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy will also be updated when appropriate.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically, particularly after significant changes to the App.
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or Denim's privacy practices, you may contact us at:
Email: privacy@denimjournal.app
For privacy-related requests, please provide enough information for us to understand your request. Do not include passwords, payment card numbers, authentication codes, or other sensitive credentials in your email.
Denim is private and local-first.
There is no required account, no cloud journal, no live community, no following system, and no direct messaging. Personal denim records, journal entries, photos, voice notes, favorites, poster history, and local profile information are designed to remain on your device.
Camera, Photos, Microphone, Notifications, and App Tracking Transparency permissions are used only in connection with the corresponding features or purposes described in this Policy.
Optional Points purchases are processed through Apple's in-app purchase system. Denim does not store your payment credentials.
